YMCAs are the nation’s largest provider of child care. We provide high-quality and affordable programs that are family-centered and values-based to nurture children’s healthy development.
We emphasize values such as caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Like all Y programs, child care is open to all, with financial assistance available.
Children are like sponges – they watch and absorb knowledge, skills and values from everything and everyone around them. At the Y, we believe the values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for quality of life and future success. That’s why our child care programs are staffed with people who understand the cognitive, physical and social development of kids. We make children feel connected and supported in trying new things. We also supply the reinforcement parents need to help each other. At the Y, kids make friends, learn new skills, and do homework; most importantly, children learn how to be their best selves. That makes for confident kids today and contributing and engaged adults tomorrow.
The first 5 years of a child’s life have so much to do with the next 80, the YMCA is proud to be a part of your child’s first 5.
The YMCA Young Child’s Preschool offers NAEYC accredited early childhood education to 2.5-5 year old preschoolers. Because of our financial assistance program, we are proudly able to offer every child a high quality educational experience. We believe quality early education is key to a child's future success; with education you can DO and BE more! The Santa Maria Valley YMCA is passionate about keeping staff apprised to educational trends, philosophies and theories. The YMCA is honored to be serving our community through early education.

“I love when my daughter comes home singing all these fun songs with all these cute little motions. She enjoys teaching me these new songs just as much as I enjoy learning them.” – Christina R.
“I absolutely love the YMCA Preschool! It is a place where I trust my daughter’s care into the hands of the most helpful, nice and caring teachers. I know she is in a place where it is fun, yet the learning environment is challenging. This is my second child who is attending the YMCA Preschool and I recommend it to everyone!” – Christie O.
“We had a really wonderful experience at preschool and we are grateful for the entire staff.” - Brian E.
“Program and staff are great. My child is learning, engaged and enjoys school.” - Rachel M.

“My child loves coming to school, she is always happy to get dropped off. I like that I am always invited and welcome to the school.” – John R.

“My child has only been attending preschool for a few months and already knows his colors, shapes and sings the ABC’s. I often see teachers get involved with students on a one to one and they are always respectful and caring towards students” - Desiree
“My son has grown and learned so much! You guys have the most wonderful teachers and program. I love seeing how much he learned from your program and how prepared he is for kindergarten.” – Toni C.
