At the Y, we believe children discover themselves through interactions with others and having the freedom to explore. The Santa Maria YMCA Camp immerses children in a community where making friends is natural, exploring new interests is encouraged, and discovering inner strength is guaranteed.

Registration Deadline is the Wednesday Prior to Each Week

Kick off your YMCA Summer experience by saying ALOHA to fellow campers that will turn into your ohana (family) for the entire Summer. The week will include anything and everything related to Summer. Beach scene crafts, popsicle making and special visitor from an AERA geologist. Students will be able to use a hands-on squeeze box showing earth layering formations and learn how islands are formed.

How do things GLOW in the DARK?? Join us for neon week at the YMCA Summer camp and we will find out together. Remember to pack your glow sticks, neon clothing and other glow in the dark accessories for a week filled with neon activities!

Wacky Wednesday dress up day: Wear as many BRIGHT and NEON colors possible!

From the backyard, to the farm, to the safari, to the zoo! Campers will learn about various animals and their habitats.

Average on the outside – extraordinary inside! It’s time to find your inner superhero. Each of us has a superpower, it’s time to become your very own superhero and meet some others along the way. It doesn’t take a superhero to do great things! Take a short trip with Aera Ambassadors to complete a small service project in our community

Can’t get enough of shark week at home?? Return from your Shweekend and get ready to DIVE into shark week. First on the

list? Making a shark tooth necklace to wear all week at camp! Campers will engage in ocean science facts and create a yummy version of shark bait, “chum.”

Wacky Wednesday dress up day: Mixy Matchy Day AND Silly Sock Day!

Pack a bag for YMCA International exploration! Campers will kick off the week creating a passport that we will add stamps to each day to represent the various countries we have visited. Along our journey, campers will gain knowledge about a variety of countries’ traditions and cultural experiences.

Wacky Wednesday dress up day: Crazy HAT day

Calling ALL Disney super fans! From Mickey, to Nemo, to Star Wars. Disney-Topia week will be jam picked with Disney FUN! Come dressed in your favorite Disney gear all week long. Disney and Pixar, as well as Aera utilize a lot of technology. Part of that is understanding logic and how basic programming works, our Disney fan clubbers will be introduced to this through snap circuits!

Wacky Wednesday dress up day: Pajama day

Disney Musical Glee Camp with Amy Curti/Serra Arensdorf. Spend the week dancing and singing to some of your favorite songs from Disney Musicals: Frozen 2, Encanto, Coco, Little Mermaid, High School Musical & other favorites! The week will culminate with a lunchtime performance for family & friends on Friday. (Ages 7-10)

 

Amy has been performing and teaching music & theatre in the Santa Ynez & Santa Maria Valley for the past 3 decades. Amy has worked with Arts Outreach, Orcutt Children's Arts Foundation & the Children's Creative Project and for the past 8 years has been teaching Glee and directing Musical Theatre for 4 years at St. Joseph High School.

ZULU dance camp is BACK! Taught by Santa Maria legends, Crystal and Spider, who are devoted to enriching the lives of children through DANCE. Hip-Hop, break-dance, and the history of hip-hop are taught to our campers through fun choreography, special dance games and uplifting music – all while cultivating every child’s confidence. Zulu Dance strives to nurture children’s appreciation and love for dance so it will remain with them for a lifetime! The week will end with a special dance performance for all friends and family to attend!

Did you know dinosaurs have not been around for 230 MILLION years? Or that the dinosaur with the longest name is Micropachycephalosaurus? Join us for a week filled with even more amazing dino facts. Campers will work with AERA engineers one day to experience rocks, fossils and minerals.

Campers should come ready to celebrate America’s Independence Day as they embark in a week filled with patriotic themed arts & crafts, while learning fun facts about America!

Wacky Wednesday dress up day: Red, white and blue palooza!

Campers will be introduced to real world concepts such as architecture, engineering, technology, math, and science and leave with a knowledge and understanding for electrical circuits and how they are used in everyday lives, be able to explain how scaling is crucial for engineers and architects related to their field, be able to generate and compare multiple possible solutions to a problem, and create different blueprints for models whether scaling to replicate an object or designing a layout. In addition to understanding these concepts, students will also have the ability to practice and apply their 21st century skills such as: critical thinking, collaboration, communication, technology literacy, flexibility, initiative, productivity, and social skills.

Broadway Musical Glee Camp with Amy Curti/Sarah Yamaichi. Spend the week dancing and singing to some of the best songs of Broadway like The Music Man, Wicked, Les Miserables, High School Musical & more.The week will culminate with a lunchtime performance for familiy & friends on Friday. (Ages 6-13)

Sarah has been dancing for 16 years & teaching for 5 of those. She has studied classical ballet but her passion is for contemporary dance. Sarah is a Senior at Westmont College, and is double majoring in Political Science & Spanish This will be Sarah's 3rd summer teaching at YMCA Summer Camp with Amy Curti.

Join us in EWWY GOOEY GROSS science camp. Learn everything you wanted to know about gross and smelly facts, along with experiments that will make you wanna hold your nose and scrunch up your face while laughing about it with all of your friends.
